Build your own knowledge graph database
The record store·8 min

Run the grader

0 / 1
# grade this stage (from your course directory)
npx theinference test --stage run-the-grader --watch

Zero setup. The starter ships the vendored Movies graph at fixtures/data/nodes.json and fixtures/data/relationships.json, and a kgdb CLI skeleton. No Neo4j, no Docker, no network. Let's prove the toolchain runs before you build anything.

Your task

Print the banner

Run kgdb hello. It should print the course banner — a fixed line that includes the dataset stats. The graded entrypoint is your_program.sh, which execs the CLI.

bash
npx tsx src/cli.ts hello
# -> kgdb — knowledge-graph-db | Movies graph: 87 nodes, 113 relationships
src/cli.ts
const BANNER = "kgdb — knowledge-graph-db | Movies graph: 87 nodes, 113 relationships";

case "hello": {
  process.stdout.write(BANNER + "\n");
  return;
}
How it's graded

Process mode: the grader runs your_program.sh hello and compares stdout exactly to fixtures/expected.txt. This step only verifies your toolchain — every later step grades real graph output.
